    NEWPORT GRILL - LAKE BONAVISTA DR. SE RIPPED-OFF - AUGUST 8, 2010 ME AND MY ENTIRE FAMILY WENT FOR A BRUNCH FOR THE CELEBRATION OF OUR 18TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY. PRIOR TO THAT ADVANCED BOOKING TO THE SAID RESTAURANT, I BURNED MYSELF TO THE WEBSITE OF THOSE RESTAURANTS OFFERING BRUNCH ON THAT EXACT DATE. BESIDES THE REFERALS OF FEW FAMILY MEMBERS WHERE TO HAVE IT CELEBRATED. EITHER AT SMUGGLERS INN, CARRIAGE INN, PALLISER HOTEL AND A LOT MORE. FINALLY, I MADE UP MY MIND TO HAVE IT IN NEWPORT GRILL FOR A CHANGED. WE USED TO DINE-IN THERE BEFORE AND WE LOVED IT THOUGH IT'S PRICY. ANYWAY, I CALLED AND MADE A CLEAR, DETAILED AND SPECIFIED INQUIRIES FOR THIS MATTER. GOT ALL MY QUESTIONS ANSWERED VIVIDLY. CLEARED IN MIND AS NOT TO MESS IT UP MY ONCE IN A LIFETIME EXPERIENCE AGAIN. TO HAVE IT WITH MY FAMILY THOU. WE WE DON'T MIND TO PAY WORTH MORE OF OUR MONEY AS LONG IT MEETS UP WITH OUR EXPECTATIONS AS WITH REGARDS TO WHAT THEY OFFERED FOR BRUNCH. OUR DETAILED EXPERIENCED WELL, WE GOT THERE AND HAVE A WARMED WELCOMED. OUR TABLE WAS NEXT TO THE WINDOW FACING THE LAKE (AS WHAT I SUGGESTED). MOSTLY SENIORS WERE THERE IN A LONG TABLE SOMEONE HAS A B'DAY CELEBRATION. ONLY 4 SETS OF TABLES WHERE OCCUPIED INCLUDING OURS. NOT MUCH PEOPLE AT THAT TIME-BRUNCH. WE STARTED HAVING OUR FOOD. IT WAS OKEY AT FIRST. BUT WHERE'S THAT "ROAST BEEF OR GRILLED CHICKEN" TO BE SERVED AS WHAT THEY VERBALLY OFFERED WHEN I MADE MY INQUIRIES. AND SHE SAID, STILL DEPENDS ON THE CHEF WHAT HE FEELS TO COOK ON THAT DAY AS ONE OF THEIR SPECIAL MENU ADDED TO THEIR BRUNCH. WE WAITED IN VAIN. UNTIL... I APPROACHED A LADY THAT INTRODUCED HERSELF AS THE PERSON I'VE MADE INQUIRIES FROM. TALKED ABOUT MY CONCERNED OF WHY THERE'S NO ROAST BEEF..... THEY BOTH SAID POLITELY (ALSO THE WAITRESS), WE DON'T HAVE IT NO MORE FOR A WHILE. SEE! NO DENIALS HERE, AS I EXPLAINED TO MY FAMILY , I'M NOT MAKING IT UP AT ALL. AS THEY THOUGHT I WAS, CAUSE THEY KNEW I LOVE TO BRING THEM THEIR (MY FAMILY AGAIN). NO "ROAST BEEF/GRILLED CHICKEN" FOR BRUNCH??????? COME ON... AS MY FAMILY ARE MEAT EATER. WE'RE ALL SO THRILLED AND EXCITED TO TRY IT. ESP. MY HUSBAND AS AS COOK IN FOR ALMOST 10 YEARS IN ONE OF THE BIGGEST CASINO IN CALGARY AND LOOKING FORWARD FOR CURIOSITY TO TRY IT. WE WAITED AND LOOKING AROUND IF IT'LL BE SERVED SOONER OR LATER. WELL, ALL WE'VE IS THEIR NON-STOP SERVING OF THEIR BACON, SAUSAUGES, EGG OMELET (made special by the on-site-cook, lots of yummy and delicious desserts. The cold ass. cut-up fruits as we can obviously tell WHEN EATEN not fresh and was prepared/sliced the night before or few hours might be for quick and easy serving that day. Why, we can tell because COOKING is our Theraphy and our family loves to have company every single weekend and we loved to cook and cut-up fresh fruits/veggies (if heavy meal is almost done) as the last minute to do before guests arrived. WE'RE PERFECTIONIST, TOO. COOKING, PRESENTTIONS AND EVERYTHING.... Even their Vegetable dressing for their SALAD it's besides the butter and pancake syrup. My Sister mistakenly have it as a Ketchup. Wrong place/table the dressing, few steps away from their Vegetable Salad. We gave the mandatory TIP of 25% out of our total bill. We can generously give more (as we're very generously very good Tipper, they're not aware of it, THEY THOUGHT WE'RE CHEAP,'cause we're colored people, got descriminated, HEY!)if it's worth it as we're asking one another if we can give more. O...OOHHH!!! means NO, the service is OKEY ONLY. Well, we left the Restaurant non-stop talking, unsastisfied, not happy and feeling got RIPPED-OFF plus the emotinal stressed it caused me and my family of the blamed and unsatisfactory kind of experienced embarrasement on my part, got ridiculed tissed, feel disgusted and so many mixed feelings and and lots of explanations on my part. From there we head to Chinook (as a planned) for Family Movie Treats. Helped ourselves of some Sandwiches. As our FOOD we've at the NEWPORT GRILL it's not that heavy at all. So we spend more money again for food in little than couple of hours only. I feel sorry for my MYSELF(esp. for our MONEY) and for all the blame and stuff. As we non-stop talking about it again and again that it's noT RIGHT AT ALL. Finally, that Tuesday AM August 10/10, I called the Restaurant. My strategy is, I asked first, what they serve for BRUNCH (or what goes with it)for Sunday. Same thing, as what I was told before. Our BRUNCH goes with 'ROAST BEEF/GRILLED CHICKEN". PERFECT! as I thought., GOT YAH! So I asked for the MANAGER, and he said you're talking to the MANAGER, and well I said your name please ...and he said "MARK". I told him, you said, you and your Receptionist,Server said 'same thing your BRUNCH goes with ROAST BEEF/GRILLED CHICKEN. But we're just there last Sunday and haven't any of those both. Told him, why you guys fooling customers, deceptive, inaccurate adverstisement, misleading customers? How can we refer you to other friends and how will we rate you as one of the best Brunch Rest. in Calgary. His defense was, we're one of the CHEAPEST in Calgary, and the ambiance goes with it. I said you don't fooled customers with it (might be there's a lot already got victimized by you, not only us and maybe it's been a while). Our hard-earned-money plus the fact we want it to be worth our experienced, you messed it up with not trying to leave it up to our expectations and I got ridiculed and bullied all the time, too. That cause me so much stresses and emotional depressed, how in our entire life here in Calgary that loves to dine-out had this unforgetable and messed-up experienced in one the finest Restaurant in Calgary. We've a bad experienced and got ripped-off not only my but the entire family. How and who'll refer you their RESTAURANT to their/our friends, bosses and officemates, neigbours etc. Me and my family worked with lots of very influential and well-off people and in mostly affluent areas of Calgary. We can't helped it but to share our bad ... bad experienced with this NEWPORT GRILL RESTAURANT. Close to a month (August 8/10) to date haven't done anything with regards to our COMPLAIN. They failed to provide compensation, refunds, adjusment as verbally promised to do so. Very slow to address our COMPLAIN and taken us for granted and don't value as their CUSTOMERS. SO WHAT'S ALL BEHIND THIS??? He only uttered once the word, SORRY and he said, we can't returned your money but we can give you the word he said is, "LITTLE COMPENSATION" for that. Well, sounds fair, I said. He'll talked to couple of people first and will later call me in the afternoon. I waited and waited of not heaing for some very impt. errnds, cause I'm too excited of MARK'S next call. I waited....waited....waited in VAIN. No calls whatsoever lated that afternoon. I said it's okey, I'm still considerate. Next day, again, I waited in the morning, afternoo, no calls again. I decided to finally gave MARK a call, for not giving me a call and up-date me of everything of what's going on now with my COMPLAIN. He did'nt apologized, NOTHING. All he said, is we can onlY COMPROMISED 25% less of your total BILL your next VISIT. VISIT AGAIN!!!. spend money again just to avail the 25% off. RIDICULOUS!!! MARK said, I got all your informationand will mail it the soonest.Until now I'm still waiting for that GIFT CARD of 25% in the MAILas I always expect it's in there. As I told everyone in the family of the settlement I've with MARK and they're were glad and happy about it. It's almost closer to a M0NTH now, haven't had that Gift Certificate, nor I heard from them though I also send a message to the OWNER of the Restaurant. No REPLIES whatsoever until at the moment. Do you think, this is MORE THAN FAIR ENOUGH? The experienced we've in one the well-known and finest RESTAURANT in Calgary. Well, I'm not done yet, still has to do more actions to have them settle this for me as how much it caused me since then. Any kind comments, you're more than welcome to do it. Looking forward for your SUPPORT and ADVICE of what and how much should I"d be COMPENSATE for all this it may caused ME and MY ENTIRE FAMILY. HOPE THIS COULD HELP YOU AND BE AWARE ALREADY IF YOU DEAL THING WITH THIS RESTAURANT. FOR SURE, THEY'RE AWARE OF THIS ALREADY AND HAS BEEN PREPARED TO FACE AND ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS FOR THEIR DEFENCE.
